Werner Herzog Signs 3-Picture Deal with Hallmark Channel
Studio City, CA - Hallmark Channel, the American cable television network owned by the Hallmark Cards subsidiary Hallmark Media, has announced that celebrated German filmmaker Werner Herzog will write and direct at least three movies in 2027.

"We could not be more excited about teaming up with such a legend in the industry," Hallmark Media President Darren Abbott explained. "Herzog was a pioneer of New German Cinema decades ago and we believe he will be the same for the romantic comedy today."
Frequently featuring ambitious protagonists with impossible dreams, Herzog's films are known for their highlight of obscure fields, unusual talents, and, at times, conflict between the individual and the natural world. According to Herzog, his work for Hallmark will be collaborative and emphasize spontaneous improvisation rather than strictly adhered to scripts that choke the creative process. "What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark? It would be like sleep without dreams, or a meet-cute without risking the death of one's soul."
