Curry Barker Announces Plans for Film Based on Baby Jessica

Hollywood, CA - Hot off of the success of Obsession, the surprise blockbuster released earlier this year that has grossed more than $500 million on a $750,000 budget, American filmmaker Curry Barker has revealed plans for a survival thriller film based on Jessica McClure, popularized as "Baby Jessica", and the events surrounding her becoming trapped in a well on October 14, 1987.

"I was so terrified when I learned about what happened to that little baby in the well," Barker explained. "The claustrophobia, the hopelessness, the hunger while being trapped down there for over two days. It was one of the scariest TikTok videos I've ever seen, and I knew I had to turn that experience into a movie."

The film, tentatively titled Wellfall, will be loosely based on the true events of McClure's time stuck in the well in her aunt's backyard in Midland, TX. According to Barker, the film will explore themes of abandonment, isolation, the loss of personal autonomy, and a horrifying reality of being trapped in a well. "What will Baby Jessica see down in that well? Will it be real or imagined? What dark place will she retreat to? And what kind of bugs will be down there? No, I'm asking you. Probably a lot of worms, right?"

Though unconfirmed, it is also being reported that Barker is working on a follow-up to the psychological horror film Look Out, She's On the Porch Now!, which was a sequel to The Woman in the Yard. This would be the fourth film in the Women in Places franchise.
